The color of toys can influence children's personality

According to recent studies the color of toys can influence temperament and personality of the kids.

Toys are a source of stimuli that favors the development of children. When choosing them we usually look at what they contribute to children at the level of creativity, interaction, learning or simply fun. Now we have to take into account the colors too.

The red ones generate dynamism and incite movement in children "and, therefore, they are recommended for rather calm children who need activity", explains the coordinator of the Committee on Safety and Accident Prevention of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics (AEP), Dr. Jordi Mateu. "On the opposite side would be the blue ones that seem to favor relaxation and help sleep and are advised to active and irritable children. Yellow toys improve concentration and help the development of intelligence while orange ones denote joy and encourage activity. The former would be suitable for children with concentration difficulties and the latter for those who go through a stage of certain sadness. Finally, the white ones seem to promote rest and relaxation ", Add.

When choosing toys, in addition to looking at the color, experts recommend that we take into account the age of children to choose those that best fit their possibilities and abilities. "In the first years of life and to motivate the child's affectivity, toys such as dolls, bears and other animals are advised. To stimulate his motor skills, toys such as balls, bicycle cars with pedals, construction toys", says the child psychiatrist and member of the AEP, Dr. Paulino Castells.

Likewise, "To stimulate their sensibility and expression, musical toys must be provided to children, not forgetting those that can be assembled and disassembled or questions and answers that stimulate their mental capacity (strings, wind or percussion)", The expert points out.
