The Madrid Akira Comics store is chosen as the best store in the world at Comic Con San Diego 2012

The San Diego International Comics Convention or Comic-Con, is one of the biggest annual comics fairs in which the Eisner awards, created as a tribute to Will Eisner. It is celebrated for four days in sunny San Diego, California. Its first edition was in the year 1970 and together with the Comiket in Japan, the International Angoulême Comic Festival in France and the Lucca Comics and Games in Italy, it is one of the worldwide reference sites for comics.

In the edition of the year 2012 the Akira Comic shop, in the Madrid neighborhood of Pilar, has been chosen the best store in the world. And it will be celebrated next September 15, 2012 in which the 19th anniversary will be celebrated and the Eisner prize will be won. On their Facebook page they indicate that we are all invited and that there will be discounts, gifts, snacks, drinks, surprises and also indicate where they are going to place the trophy that have been sent from the United States.

The prize has been shared with a store in Canada although it is the first time that a Spanish store is rewarded and apparently the second time a European store receives it after a store in Holland received it in the 90s. Akira's manager is Jesús Marugán who can be seen in the video that I found on page 11870.com and that I have embedded so that you can see and hear many details of this fantastic space.

The store has an area of 360 square meters distributed on two floors. Apparently it is one of the criteria that are valued by the jury of the Eisner Prize, which thus ensures the generational relief with dedicated spaces and with many meters of shelves to promote comics for the whole family.

In Madrid I have visited many comic shops, most of them in the center of the capital, and some have seen how they closed. I didn't know Akira Comics although I signed up to spend the day September 15 with my daughter and take a look at her facilities.

From the comments that I have seen on 11870.com, we can draw the conclusion that the Marugán family are specialists in comics, they offer a great deal to the client, which allows and facilitates that in their facilities the kids play and have fun and that the products are chosen with care to ensure that the customer experience makes it easy to return.

We congratulate the Marugán family for the prize and wish them lots of sales and success. Cinema and television are making the comic still very much alive and the kids have an ideal place to stimulate their imagination and creativity in these spaces.
