Five advent calendars to do with kids

A beautiful craft to do with the kids at this time of year are the advent calendars. It fills them with enthusiasm to discover day by day the surprises that hide behind each window.

The first window opens on December 1 and so on until reaching day 25. Every day hides a surprise, which can be a chocolate or a candy, but I like more other types of surprises such as a written message or a special detail

I leave some ideas of Advent calendars to do with kids these days. I hope they inspire you.

Inspired by an old blackboard

A beautiful option is to make an advent calendar inspired by an old blackboard, or also reminiscent of a loan system from many years ago. Each numbered envelope contains a label to discover each day.

On each label you can find a phrase alluding to Christmas, and as they are discovered, they can be hung to decorate the Christmas tree.

In The Painted Hive you will find a complete tutorial with step-by-step instructions to make your slate calendar.

A calendar with decorated boxes

It consists of getting cardboard boxes of different shapes and decorating them. You can use stickers in the same tone as in this example that I have seen in Ohhhmhhh in which the fuchsia color was chosen. It is a little Christmas color, but it looks great.

If you prefer you can also decorate the boxes with markers, waxes, watercolors, glitter, or as you like. The most complicated thing can be to get the boxes. It is a matter of moving through stores of office supplies or gifts, and if not, make them yourself with cards and fold them.

Inside the boxes you have to hide small details. Oh, and don't forget to assign a number to each box. They look great decorating a special corner of the house, whose walls you can also decorate in the same style.

Made with paper cubes

In the same style as the previous one, but with printables, you can do with the kids this advent calendar of paper cubes.

All you have to do is enter the Etsy LittleLlamaShoppe store to download the design of the cubes. Then you have to print them on cardboard, cut them out, assemble each cubes and place the surprises inside.

You can also place a rope to decorate the tree with the cubes.

With paper bags

An idea that I found adorable and the easiest thing to do is this advent calendar made with paper bags of Most Lovely Things.

You have to hang them on one or two ropes decorating a wall and close each bag with a string of thread. Of course, the surprise is hidden inside. To hang them are ideal wooden clothespins that are used to hang clothes, whether large or small.

A calendar full of color

Finally, one that at first glance seems simple, but has its trick is this calendar full of color that we are taught in You are my fave.

It consists of a giant cardboard with 25 colored circles. Behind each circle lies a paper bag with the surprise of the day, so the most complex work is hidden in the back.

Anyway it is a beautiful craft that kids will love.
