How to tell a story

Telling a story is not simply reading it. Nor do we need to have any special skills, with a little imagination and dedication we will help our children to discover the fantastic world of stories.

One of the keys is to get the attention of children. To do this, we must use a simple language that is easy to understand. We can help with different tones of voice, hand movements, as well as other expressive resources such as gestures with the eyes or face. It is not necessary that we force the voice exaggeratedly.

It is also important to find the right time for the small listener (s) to concentrate exclusively on hearing the story, with no things around that can distract them. Repeat the sentences as many times as necessary. Listening again will make you discover things that you may not have noticed before. Likewise, if you want to always listen to the same story ... something special will have.

If you get tired or sleep in the middle of the story, we can bookmark the page and continue the next day to start creating the habit of a good reader.

If they are still too young to understand a story, we can invent basic stories from the images in a book so that they can understand them.

Books make things easier for us, because stories are already invented, but if you dare to invent your own stories, you will discover the true pleasure of creating and telling stories. And most importantly, you will stimulate his imagination.
