Homemade owl costume for babies

After teaching you how to make the homemade spider costume I bring you one that exceeds it, or at least matches it in originality: an owl costume for babies to make at home.

It may seem complicated at first glance, but if we look closely we see that it is simpler than we think. Basically, the material that will be used to make the costume is felt in different colors.

We will need felt in four shades of brown or two shades of brown, beige and yellow, in white and a small piece in black for the mask. We will also need a brown or black hat to make the owl's head.

To start, we cut the wings. We cut each color of a different size so that overlays give the sensation of volume. In this link you have the cutting templates. To have them in original size you have to copy them at 375%.

To the top layer we have to make a fold as a clamp on the top to give it a rounded effect that fits on the baby's shoulder. Once we have all the layers cut we paste them on top of each other as we see in the photo and we sew a thick rubber or a piece of velcro to attach the wings to each of the child's arms.

We have left to make the chest with the white felt as indicated by the template. Five equal shapes are cut with spikes at one end and sewn on the front of a white baby cotton body.

We can only stick a pair of ears to the hat and trim the mask to which we will have to place a piece of velcro at the ends so that it is well secured.

The baby must be dressed in black or brown tights and then put on the body, wings, hat and mask. Being the soft costume, you will not feel too uncomfortable, although the wings probably do not last long.

You see, it is not complicated. The material is easy to obtain, but if you did not succeed, start the imagination to add or replace any part of the costume with what you could have at home. Let's do it!
