This weekend We have a special date in Guadalajara with the Marathon of stories, from this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. until Sunday 17, with 46 uninterrupted hours telling and listening to stories. A single premise: you can't read, just tell, interpret and listen.
This is the XXI Marathon of the Tales Festival Mysteries of Europe and is celebrated these days in Guadalajara with a lot of activities aimed at the whole family. This year the meeting is dedicated to the mystery, theme on which all activities revolve.
The whole city participates and gets involved in this festival of the word, which has as its core a story palace: the Infantado Palace. Decked streets, balconies with banners, parades of musicians, dancers, salt-bankers ...
In many places we can find storytellers and children's characters, street shows, workshops, magic, puppets ... in the square and the Infantado gardens.
Last year there were 785 stories, told by 1,207 people, amateurs and professionals. Adding all the marathons it is estimated that 10,246 stories have been told, a record number. In fact, the city of Guadalajara holds the Guiness record as a place in the world where more time has been spent telling stories continuously.
This year highlights the presence of European storytellers, as it is the Festival of the Mysteries of Europe, although foreign languages will have their corresponding simultaneous translation.
In addition, European mysteries will be studied in a seminar in which more than 30 experts participate, as well as marathons of illustration, photography and radio.
We could not finish without stressing that the Marathon is the result of the voluntary work of many people who collaborate with the Seminar of Children and Youth Literature of the Public Library of Guadalajara, the organizer of it. This year, his effort has been rewarded with a grant of the European Union of 100,000 euros, being the only Spanish project that has obtained this aid for cultural festivals.
In short, a whole world of shows and children's stories in the Marathon of the mystery in Guadalajara. The routes of legends and mysteries around the city or the "Monuments" are other attractions that you can not miss for this weekend's story.
