The baby loses the first woman who became pregnant with the transplanted uterus

Only a month ago Eva brought us great news that opened the door to hope for all young women who had undergone a hysterectomy (the surgical removal of the uterus): a woman who had already made news a few years earlier, for having received a transplanted uterus successfully, she managed to get pregnant being the first in the world to achieve it.

However, today we have bad news about it, because her pregnancy, followed by all expectant and hopeful, had to be stopped 3 days ago, when doctors observed that the fetus had no heartbeat.

Derya Sert, who is the name of this 23-year-old Turkish woman, was hoping to become the first woman with a transplanted uterus that made it, and wanted fulfill your dream of being a mother, dream that had always been impossible to imagine because born without a uterus. Already when he was transplanted the uterus of a deceased donor, two years ago, he declared that he did it with the sole purpose of ending up being a mother: "If I had a magic wand, I'd like to get pregnant. I just want to have my baby in my arms.".

However, when she turned eight weeks pregnant she went to the control of her pregnancy and the doctors observed that the baby showed no signs of life. The pregnancy was achieved thanks to one of several frozen Derya eggs, which were removed before transplantation, fertilized with the husband's sperm. As there are still frozen eggs and as he is young and has a great will and eagerness, he is clear that will try again. Now he is at home, stable and resting, but as soon as doctors consider it a good time to try again, he will put all his effort and all his strength into getting it.
